Erichsens Gård in Rønne – a beautifully preserved 19th-century townhouse
Erichsens Gård (Laksegade 7) is a well-preserved bourgeois home from the mid-1800s.
It belonged to the influential Erichsen family and is linked to a romantic story involving Vilhelmine Erichsen
and the Danish painter and poet Holger Drachmann.
Don’t miss the adjoining garden — a charming 19th-century “grandma-style” garden and a peaceful oasis in the town centre.
Hjorths Fabrik in Rønne – living history of Bornholm ceramics
Hjorths Fabrik (Krystalgade 5) is a historic ceramics workshop founded in 1859 and still active today.
The permanent exhibition traces Bornholm ceramics from the 18th century to artistic studio pottery.
Visitors can watch parts of the production process in the workshops. Guided tours are available (often also in English).
Melstedgård Landbrugsmuseum – rural life and farming history on Bornholm
Melstedgård (Melstedvej 25) is an authentic Bornholm farmstead from the late 18th century with well-preserved buildings,
original furniture, and tools that bring old rural life to life.

Oluf Høst Museum in Gudhjem – art and inspiration on Bornholm
Dedicated to one of Bornholm’s best-known artists, Oluf Høst (1884–1966), this museum is set in his home, Norresân, in Gudhjem.
The collection highlights his distinctive interpretation of Bornholm landscapes.

Gudhjem Museum – local history and art above the harbour
Located at Stationsvej 1, Gudhjem Museum combines the old station building with a modern exhibition pavilion.
The collection includes works by artists connected to Gudhjem and references to the historic Gudhjem railway line
(Aakirkeby – Almindingen, 1916–1953).
Moseløkken Quarry Museum – the story of Bornholm granite
Located at Moseløkkevej 9 in Allinge, this museum sits beside an active granite quarry near the ruins of Hammershus.
Granite extraction began here in 1870.
Exhibits include historic tools, archival photos, and video material showing how quarrying shaped Bornholm’s development.
Martin Andersen Nexø Museum – life and work of a famous Danish author
This small museum (Ferskesøstræde 36) is set in the former home of Danish writer Martin Andersen Nexø.

NaturBornholm – discover Bornholm’s geology and nature
NaturBornholm is a modern science centre (opened 16 May 2000) focusing on the island’s geological past and present-day nature.

Opened in 1970, this museum is housed in a sandstone building from 1796 at Havnen 9 in Nexø.

At Søndre Bæk 20 in Hasle, this museum tells the story of traditional fish smoking.
It’s located in one of the buildings of a former smokehouse built in 1897 and features historic photos and process explanations.
Christiansø Museum – fortress island history on Ertholmene
Located in the Small Tower on Frederiksø (Ertholmene archipelago), this museum focuses on local and regional history,
including Christiansø’s role as a military fortress. The tower was built in 1685–1687 as part of the fortifications.

Hammershus Visitor Centre – the story of Scandinavia’s largest fortress ruins
This modern visitor centre (Slotslyngvej 9, Allinge) introduces the history of Hammershus and brings the castle’s heyday around 1575 to life:

On-site you’ll find an exhibition, café, seminar room, and a long terrace with a spectacular view of the ruins. A bridge across the ravine provides easy access.
Bornholms Tekniske Samling – a treasure trove of technical history
This technical museum at Østre Borregård (Nordre Borrelyngvej 48, Allinge) is housed in a former farm once linked to Hammershus.
The collection ranges from radios and hand tools to agricultural machinery, tractors, and everyday objects.
Most items are donations from local residents and companies — a very authentic window into Bornholm’s everyday history.
