Bornholm offers one of the most diverse accommodation bases in Denmark. From seaside hotels and cosy guesthouses to holiday homes, campsites, simple tent sites and free nature shelters.
Bornholm is often called Denmark’s most beautiful holiday island. The rocky northern coastline, sandy beaches in the south, charming towns and attractions such as Hammershus, the round churches and Christiansø make it easy to find the perfect place to stay.
On Bornholm you will find modern seaside hotels, charming boutique properties and small family-run guesthouses. Many are located close to the sea or in peaceful harbour towns.
Several hotels and guesthouses operate all year round, making Bornholm an attractive destination beyond the summer season.
Renting a holiday home is the most popular accommodation option on Bornholm. It offers flexibility and is especially convenient for families with children.
The island also provides hostels and campsites in various standards. During the high season, the total accommodation capacity exceeds 17,000 beds.
In peak season, especially from mid-June to mid-August, it is recommended to book well in advance.
A low-budget alternative are small private tent sites at local farms, often marked as Lejrplads or Telt. They offer very simple facilities but allow you to stay close to nature at a low cost.
Basic facilities usually include a toilet and cold water, sometimes also a simple cooking area or bicycle storage.
Bornholm also offers free wooden shelters and primitive tent sites, usually located in scenic natural surroundings.
Simple rules apply: one-night stays only, no reservations, clean up after yourself and light fires only in designated areas.
Please note that wild camping outside designated areas is not permitted in Denmark.
