The journey begins in the picturesque capital of the island, Rønne. We will head north towards the charming town of Hasle, passing through beautiful forested areas that connect the two locations. Even at the coastline, you will have the opportunity to admire the Swedish coastline, which is just 32 km away from Bornholm.
As we reach the northern tip of the island, our eyes will be drawn to the impressive ruins of Hammershus Castle, the largest in Northern Europe and the most visited site on Bornholm. The construction of the castle started in the early 13th century to strengthen the Archbishop of Lund's power over the island. For the next 500 years, Hammershus served as the residence of various rulers. We will have ample time for an extended visit to explore these picturesque ruins and the new visitor center.
The next leg of our journey will take us along the eastern coast of Bornholm, with enchanting landscapes and charming fishing villages. We will make a stop at the summit of Bokul, offering breathtaking views of the town of Gudhjem, the coastline, and the island of Christiansø. We will then lead you further north along winding roads to Helligdomsklipperne, where impressive rock formations such as Lyseklippen and Sorte Gryde await.
During the tour, we will also make a stop at one of the four round churches on the island, Østerlars. These medieval churches once served as shelters during times of war and plundering expeditions from other countries. In Østerlars Rundkirke, our knowledgeable guide will take you through the church, providing a unique experience that goes beyond a typical sightseeing tour.
Following that, you will have the option to choose one of the following attractions to conclude our journey: A: Natur Bornholm - Nature and Experience Center with interactive exhibitions and modern technology, accompanied by nature guides to pique and deepen your interest in the island's unique nature. The return journey to Rønne will take us through the picturesque forested area of Almindingen, which will awe you with its valleys, lakes, and breathtaking landscapes.
