Dueodde beach
belongs to the 20 best beaches in Europe

Of the many thousands of beaches in Europe - Dueodde beach is listed by Lonely Planet as one of the top 20 beaches in Europe.

Dueodde is the most famous beach on Bornholm. This is partly due to the fact that the sand at Dueodde is so white and fine that it was formerly used in hourglasses. The beach is visited by many sunbathers every summer, and with its many kilometres of beaches, there is something for everyone.

The beach in Dueodde is also particularly child-friendly, as you have to go far into the sea before it gets deep.

Lonely Planet writes about Dueodde beach like this:

"Looking like a remembered dream in the painterly pastel light of the setting sun, Dueodde lies at the southernmost tip of the island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea in Denmark. Backed by vast dunes and pine trees, its sand is white and soft as talcum powder - so fine-grained that it was once used in hourglasses. You can walk for miles, finding space and solitude, and wade forever in the sea, with water only reaching your knees. At night, the only light comes from the stars and the flashing lantern ".

During the rest of the year, the beach is also frequently visited by tourists and locals, and in winter, when all the dunes are covered with snow, the beach is a favourite destination for children and adults who love tobogganing.

There is also a golf course nearby and a museum dedicated to World War II. Among the exhibits are fighter planes from this period. We can also go to the viewpoint - Dueodde lighthouse, from where there is a wonderful view of the Baltic Sea and the island. Another lookout point is the Bornholm Tower, which can be reached by a 70-metre-high lift, from which you can also take a cable ride to enjoy the view. The tower is considered to be the highest point in Denmark.
