It gives you a “roof over your head”, but most often without running water or a proper toilet (sometimes there is a basic toilet nearby). The stay is free, but simple rules apply: one night only, no reservations, clean up after yourself, and fires only in designated spots.
Match the location to your plan: southern beaches, northern cliffs, or quieter inland forests. Remember that these places can’t be booked — in popular areas during peak season it’s smart to have a backup option.
