The coast of Bornholm offers ideal conditions for water sports, including surfing and kitesurfing. However, it is worth noting that the coast is characterized by diverse landscapes. In the south of the island, there are extensive beaches with white sand, perfect for sunbathing and water activities. On the other hand, the northern coast, dominated by rocks and cliffs, invites you to take a hike and admire the picturesque landscapes. Regardless of the choice, the water off the coast of Bornholm is always clean and clear, which is an additional advantage for enthusiasts of active leisure.
When it comes to windsurfing and kitesurfing, it is worth visiting the "Eastwind watersport" base located south of Nexø, in Balke. This is the perfect place to rent equipment and learn these sports under the guidance of an experienced instructor.
The southern coast of Bornholm is a paradise for windsurfing and kitesurfing enthusiasts. The beaches in Balka, Dueodde, and Jomfrugaard are known throughout the island and attract both experienced surfers and beginners. These are perfect places to feel the wind in your hair and dive into the water.
High waves and strong winds create ideal conditions for practicing these sports, and the water is clean and clear, which is an additional advantage. For beginner surfers, we recommend using the services of local windsurfing schools, where experienced instructors will help you master the techniques of riding on a board and sail control. After completing the course, you will be able to enjoy the freedom and adventure that windsurfing and kitesurfing on the coast of Bornholm offer.
Kitesurfing is an incredibly exciting sport that allows you to feel the power of nature while providing fantastic entertainment. Wind is a crucial element in practicing this sport, which is why the beaches of Balka, Dueodde, Jomfrugaard, and Boderne are the ideal places for kitesurfing on Bornholm.
There are many places on the island where you can take part in kitesurfing courses, but most of them take place on these beaches. The courses are conducted by experienced instructors who will teach you how to handle the kite and board, as well as how to safely use the wind.
After completing the course, you will be ready for a full adventure on the water and enjoy several hours of unforgettable fun. Regardless of your skill level, Bornholm offers excellent conditions for kitesurfing and guarantees many unforgettable moments on the water.
Stand up paddle surfing, also known as SUP, is an incredibly enjoyable water sport that provides a lot of satisfaction when standing on the board. It is a sport in which progress can be quickly noticed, while developing skills and setting new challenges. Paddling on the board allows for an active rest, while improving fitness and enjoying fresh air.
On Bornholm, SUP can be practiced on various bodies of water, both on calm lakes and the sea. Examples of places worth trying your hand at this sport are the southern coast, where there are sandy beaches, as well as Lake Hammersø, where the water is crystal clear.
SUP is an ideal way to spend time with family and friends, while also providing the opportunity to contemplate the beautiful landscapes of Bornholm.
The Dueodde Beach is one of the most beautiful places on Bornholm, renowned for its pristine white sand that stretches for several kilometers and ranges in width from 50 to almost 150 meters. Although the entire beach is beautiful, the best conditions for water sports such as kitesurfing and windsurfing are on the western part of the beach, west of the Dueodde lighthouse.
However, one should be careful of the strong currents that often occur on this part of the beach, as well as the seaweed that can hinder swimming and pose a threat to kitesurfers' safety. Nonetheless, the Dueodde beach is one of the most beautiful places not only on Bornholm but also in all of Denmark and the Baltic coast. To reach the beach, one can use the two ramps on Fyrvejen and Skrokkegards, which lead through the dunes to the beach. The parking lot at Fyrvejen has toilets, a kiosk, and a bus stop. However, it is important to note that the ramp ends over 100 meters from the shoreline. There are camping fields, numerous holiday homes, and a primitive camping ground nearby, which are all clearly marked on our Bornholm map.

Depending on the wind direction one can move a bit on the corner of the island, but the wind will still mostly beside, side-on or onshore. When the wind comes more from East you should kite in Balka, and when more Northwest in Jomfrugaard, because it is quite gusty on Dueodde then.
Balka beach
Beach Balka sounds like a wonderful place for those seeking a beach, surfing, and other water activities. Thanks to its fine sand and shallow water, it's a perfect place for beginner surfers and kitesurfers. Additionally, the fact that the beach is sheltered from the western wind makes it even more attractive for those who want to swim in calmer conditions.
The town of Snogebæk, from which Balka beach starts, offers many shops and restaurants, which can be beneficial for tourists looking for additional attractions and convenience. And the beach itself, ending in Balka, offers additional amenities such as restaurants, mini golf, toilets, and plenty of parking spaces.
During the peak season, Balka beach has lifeguards, which increases safety for beachgoers, and a rental shop for windsurfing, kitesurfing, jet skis, SUPs, kayaks, and loungers, allowing you to take advantage of a wide range of water activities.

Jomfrugaard beach
Jomfrugaard Beach, located on the western coast of Bornholm, is a perfect spot for surfing and kiteboarding enthusiasts. Due to the south-western winds, the waves at this beach are usually the biggest and best for practicing these water sports.
Jomfrugaard is also a beautiful place for walks and picnics. The width of the beach and the amount of driftwood changes with the intensity of winter storms, but for most of the year, it is a very pleasant place to spend time outdoors.
There is a parking lot near the beach with a view of the water, making it a convenient place to park your car and start your adventure by the sea.

Boderne Beach is located on the southeastern coast of Bornholm and is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. It is an ideal place for those looking for peace and quiet, especially outside of the summer season.
The size of the beach at Boderne changes depending on the strength of the wind, but it is usually quite a large area. You can swim here in all wind directions, but you should watch out for rocks in the water, especially during low tide.
There are not many facilities on the beach, but there are a few benches and picnic tables. Near the beach, you can find a few small cafes and grocery stores. Parking is available near the beach, so there's no problem with parking your car.

Sandvig Beach is one of the most beautiful places in Bornholm. It is located in the picturesque north-eastern part of the island and consists mainly of white sand. It is a relatively small but very charming and secluded beach, surrounded by cliffs and forests.
For water sports enthusiasts, Sandvig Beach offers many possibilities. Due to its location and the shape of the coast, it is an ideal place for surfing with winds from the northwest to the southeast. The beach is well sheltered from western winds, which provides good conditions for water sports.

At that time, there is even less artificial light on the island, which provides perfect conditions for observing the night sky.
This expedition is a perfect opportunity for tourists and photography enthusiasts who want to combine their passions and spend time on international travels. The program is designed for people of different levels of photography experience.
