An alcohol-tasting excursion on Bornholm is just one of our suggestions for you to spend your holiday on the island in an interesting way.
Each of the alcohol producers on Bornholm has unique expertise, a wealth of creativity and a passionate range of drinks that provide guests and connoisseurs with a range of unforgettable taste experiences. Drinks in large vessels are created using sour leaves, pungent herbs, sweet berries, aromatic flowers, juicy fruits or raw wood. Quality-conscious producers attach great importance to local craftsmanship and have nothing to hide, of which they are very proud and invite you to show the production process and taste their drinks.
We provide the venue, the idea and the execution, undertaking the organisation of each event from scratch, carefully working out every detail.
Vinbaren Ved Vandet is located near Svaneke, in an old smokehouse with a view of the sea and the characteristic rocky coast. The wine list offers 40 different wines by the glass at reasonable prices. The wines are imported by the winery itself, and guests can taste the wine before making a decision.
Another place is Vinøst, which is located on the square in Svaneke, in the heart of the bustling old town and overlooking the beautiful old half-timbered houses. It sells only organic - biodynamic wines from innovative small winemakers. The wine bar serves simultaneously as a showcase and a warehouse where wines are taken off the shelves.
Râzapâz is a wine bar, café and eatery in Bornholm's pleasure landscape. Located on a lively street in Rønne, the wine bar invites us in in a tasteful vintage style, with a floor-to-ceiling wine rack on the wall. It is here that we can choose our wine, which is served both outside and inside the café. Its range includes classic light wines, natural wines and Burgundy and Rosé.
Provianten is the place with stories of roosters and bulls, land rats and "quay ladies". The wine bar, with beautiful views of the city's picturesque waterfront, is just a few metres from the swaying harbour boats. It serves meticulously selected wine in charming surroundings and great expertise, but Provianten also serves tempting delicacies, hot dishes and homemade snacks from the south of France.
The Lille Gadegaard winery was founded in 1995 and started with strawberry wine production. It was not until 2000 that viticulture was introduced in Denmark and the first grapes were harvested in 2002. The Lille Gadegård wine producer is one of the largest in Denmark and also offers fruit wine, brandy, whisky and beer.
At the winery, we will tour the grounds and enjoy a tasting of three varieties of wine. The tour of the vineyard lasts about 40 minutes, the winemaker tells you how he invented wine production on Bornholm and many other stories related to the farm. The owner personally shows you around the fields and also offers a visit to the pigs.
The wine tasting can be organised either on site at the winery, outdoors, in a hotel, on a yacht or on Christianso Island.
On Bornholm you will find many microbreweries that produce mild, dark, bitter and sweet beers every day. Bornholm breweries such as Svaneke Bryghus, Penyllan, Small Batch, Lille Gadegård, Mikkeller and Chrøøl offer us these delicious beers every day.
Among other things, we can visit the brewery located in an old merchant's house from 1750. Here we will see the brewing process and of course have the opportunity to enjoy the beer. Svaneke Bryghus is a 100% organic brewery.
Another microbrewery, Penyllan, received an honorary diploma from the Academy of Gastronomy in 2019. The brewery, located in the small, somewhat rough industrial port of Tejn, produces wild fermented barrel-aged beer that can be enjoyed at the bar.
Small Batch Brewery at its new location in the port of Rønne brews litres of delicious beer in balance with love and respect for good taste. The Small Batch brewery in the harbour welcomes beer lovers and non-beer lovers in its cosy interiors.
Mikkeller is first and foremost a world of beer that offers a variety of flavours and ingredients. This world of beer, whose endless possibilities include hops, malt, barrel ageing, spontaneous fermentation and aromatic ingredients - liquorice, coffee, passion fruit, cherries, chilli and chocolate - forms the basis of the award-winning beer.
Chrøøl is a microbrewery on the island of Christianso. Beer brewing here is done by hand and patiently without saving raw materials. Without advanced technology, the taste of the beer will vary slightly depending on brewing, ingredients, temperature and time, which only adds to the charm of the drink.
The latest addition to Bornholm's liquor producers is several small distilleries on the island that produce rum, gin, whisky, vodka, schnapps and fermented drinks - with ingredients sourced from Bornholm.
Wild Distillery's gin is brewed in beautiful hand-built copper cauldrons, with plenty of junipers harvested in the Ravnedalen area. Varieties produced - espresso, tomato, hemp and sea buckthorn. The beautiful gin bottles are decorated with a picture of the Døndalen valley as the identifying motif on the back of each bottle. Here we get to learn about the history of Wild Distillery and the gin-making process. We end with a tasting during which we try different gins.
The tour, tasting and wild stories will be introduced to us by Henrik Nerst, Master Distiller, Sommelier and owner.
Nord-Snaps has made its living since 2016 by producing aromatic schnapps from Bornholm, which it sells in its own shop. The producer cares about the good taste of his products - the apples are caramelised by hand, and the fine, fresh, light green beech shoots are hand-picked and bagged.
The production of Bornholm aquavit, bitter, sevablødda and honey is characterised by craftsmanship and good ingredients, which you can taste in every drop of this drink.
Østersøens Brænderi is another producer who has found happiness in work dedicated to alcohol. From hand-picked juniper and heather, apples from Melstedgård, sea buckthorn and raspberry leaves, he collects the unique taste of Bornholm in the bottle.
The NXØ brewery is impressive, catching delicate bubbles in its refreshing kefir. It has been producing lemon kefir and raspberry soda for several years. The brewery is working on reaching out to the soft drink trend. They are working here to create red wine, white wine and bubbles without percentages.
Kombucha is originally a fermented alcohol-free healthy drink. The base is made from Bornholm sea buckthorn leaves and local honey. The clear, colourful drink is available in a range of flavours - ginger and lime, blueberry and mint, apple and chokeberry, hemp and herbs - mint, sage, lemon balm and lavender, for an invigorating and slightly bitter taste.
Bornholm-based Mosteri prides itself on cultivating original flavours. Variants such as lemon and lime, rhubarb and elderflower are familiar drinks on the menus of Danish cafés. The manufacturer's ambition is to minimise sugar to create an authentic and unadulterated taste experience, completely excluding artificial ingredients.
The youngest alcohol producer on Bornholm is Café Slusegaard & Anjas Julelade, which in September 2019, registered Gran schnapps for the Danish Championship, for spiced spirits and became No 1 in this category. It is made from new, young spruce shoots - the light green shoots are carefully hand-picked and sorted, before slowly releasing their delicate aroma and shade of the spruce forest. Flavoured with honey from Bornholm, this is a mild yet strong schnapps, with a fragrant and delicate spruce aftertaste ( 35% vol. ).
All tours organised by us are a guarantee of a unique atmosphere and professional execution.
